Mo-Kan participates in various fundraising events through each year. These help fund educational scholarships and member registrations for annual conferences. We also participate in various community events or create our own activity to help a community.
New in 2018 - as a follow up to our February program, our chapter is collecting monetary donations to sponsor a Sunshine Box (or 2) which is a solar-powered unit used to charge mobile devices in under-developed countries; these have also been used in hurricane-ravaged areas in the US. Visit the 1773 Innovation Company website for information on this unit! Any donation is welcome!
Chapter members participate in various community events including donating household items to Hope House and supported tornado relief donations, and we collected and delivered clothing to the Women's Employment Network. Each December, we collect gifts and necessities for the True Light Family Resource Center/Freedom House in mid-town Kansas City; a shelter for homeless women and a place for them to get back on their feet.
